International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is an international non-profit research-for- development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our Research for Development (R4D) is anchored on the developmental needs of sub-Saharan Africa. We develop Agricultural solutions with our partners to alleviate hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks, enhancing crop quality and productivity and generating wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

Objective of the Exercise
The objective of this EOI is to solicit proposals from competent organizations with potentials to create and deliver value to IITA in the exercise of the above mandates from year 2013 and beyond. IITA invites expression of interest (EOI) from interested persons, small, medium and corporate enterprise businesses that are regulatory compliant, technically and financially eligible to participate in the prequalification exercise for the supply of goods and provision of works and services as listed below:

  • Automotive Spares/Motor Cycles
  • Agricultural (Farm) Equipment Supplies
  • Agricultural Supplies e.g. Herbicides, Fertilizers
  • Building materials and general maintenance supplies
  • Timber/Wood/Laminates
  • Medical Sundries and Supplies
  • Electrical/Electronic Supplies
  • General Engineering Supplies
  • Heavy Equipment (Plant) Supplies
  • Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Supplies
  • Telecommunications Supplies
  • Water treatment chemicals and consumables
  • Laboratory chemicals and consumables
  • Motor vehicle tyres and inner tubes
  • Tools hand and powered including ground maintenance/agricultural tools
  • lronmongery-Metal ware, Hardware e.g. Nails, Screws, fixings etc
  • Computers/Accessories and consumables
  • General Stationery consumables
  • Energy (LPG, AGO & PMS)
  • Lubricants
  • Janitorial/Household cleaning supplies

  • Fumigation/Decontamination Services
  • Freight Clearing and Forwarding Services
  • Provision of corporate work wear (uniforms, general purpose clothing)
  • Designing, printing and branding of materials and corporate promotional items
  • Repairs, Servicing and Maintenance of Clinical Laboratory Equipment and instruments
  • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and waste disposal

  • Provision of Building and Construction Works
  • Carpentry Works
  • Plumbing Fixtures and Fittings
  • Painting and Decorating

Terms and Conditions for Pre Qualification
Companies/persons with interest to participate in the exercise are requested to submit their
Expression of Interest (EOI) with the following mandatory requirements:
Companies’ Name, Postal and Physical location addresses
Phone number, fax numbers and email addresses
Name and title of contact person
Company background and profile of the Board of Directors
Verifiable evidence of experience and reputation in the supply of relevant products and services
Certificate of incorporations or Registration
VAT Registration certificate where applicable
Valid Income Tax Clearance certificate for years 2011 and 2012
Minimum of Three (3) Reputable Organizations as Referees

Method of Submission
EOI are to be submitted by email to m.a.bakare@cgiar.org and hard copies in properly sealed envelopes and marked ‘Prequalification for Provision of (nature of Business) and addressed to:

Monday 4 March 2013 (4.30pm)
This Request for Expression of Interest (EOI) does not constitute a solicitation, therefore IITA reserves the right to change or cancel the requirements at any time during EOI and/or solicitation process. Your response to this EOI does not automatically guarantee that such a firm will be considered for receipt of the solicitation when issued. Only vendors deemed qualified upon completion of an objective evaluation of their submission of EOI, will receive acknowledgement of being included in supplier base of the Institute.

Note: All current Suppliers are required to be prequalified afresh.
