Invitation for the Expression of Interest (EOI) at Ministry of Agriculture & Natural Resources

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ekiti State, Nigeria is embarking on land clearing operations in pursuant of Agenda 3 (three) of the current administration. The passionate desire of this present administration is to open up more land for mechanized agriculture in the 2013 fiscal year. The following locations are where the land clearing operations are to be carried
out;

5.) Location: lgbara Odo-Ekiti

It should be noted that Ekiti land comprises of both thick and light forests, hence the need to specify the forest of interest is very important. Land clearing operations involve:

• Land Layout
• Tree felling
• Cross cutting and packing
• Rome ploughing

It should also be noted that agricultural land clearing demands technicalities and experience. Therefore the following guiding principles must be strictly adhered to:

• Scraping of the top soil should be avoided.
• Tree must be properly felled.
• Tree felled must be cross cut and packed in rows.
• Packing should be in lots of 20ha each.
• Scattered trees (not more than 3 in a lot) should be allowed to remain/stand in the lots. Preferably locust bean trees.
• Removal of the top soil should be seriously avoided.
• In the attempt of felling tree(s), pits dug should be leveled.
• Rome ploughing is to be done across the slope.
• Rome ploughing should break the hard pan soil and cut the buried roots of the tree felled.

Interested contractors should send in their 'Expression of Interest' to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Attention of Director, Planning Research and Statistics.

Your ‘Expression of Interest’ should include the following:

• Time line of operation.
• Type of equipment possessed / equipment mobilization.
• Financial capability and mobility.
• Experience on similar job.
• Technical partner(s) if any.
• Office location within Ekiti State.
• Evidence of 3 years development levy payment (2011, 2012 & 201 3).
• Tax clearance for the last 3 years.
• Registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
• Registration with the State Ministry of Works.
• Registration with the State Ministry of Commerce.
• Payment of Tender fee.
• Registration with Bureau of Public Procurement.
