Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission - Invitation for Application for Registration A Metering Service Provider

In the exercise of the powers conferred under Section 32(1 )(e), and 96(1) and 96(2)(q) of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, 2005, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has developed guidelines for obtaining Registration Certificate for Metering Service Providers of Electric Energy Metering Systems.

The objective of the Guidelines is to ensure that only competent persons conversant with the standards approved by NERC are allowed to perform the functions required for metering services in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).These services include meter importers, suppliers and installers.

Pursuant to the above, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to persons interested in engaging in the business of supply of meters to apply to the Commission for certification. The application form can be downloaded from the Commission’s website by clicking on www.nercng.org. All applications must reach the Commission at the address below by 31 March 2013.The Commission will continue receiving applications from interested persons after this date but such applications will not be part of the Credit Advance Payment for Meter Installation (CAPMI) scheme.

In addition, the document “Guidelines for obtaining Registration Certificate for Metering Service Providers of Electric Metering Systems and Related Matters” is available on the Commission’’ website by clicking on www.nercng.org for comments until 15th March 2013.
