26th June of every calendar year beginning from year 2009 has been set aside as a day to be marked for celebration by all Sons and Daughters of the Nupe Kingdom. This cuts across Niger, Kwara, Kogi States and the FCT as well as those residing elsewhere within and outside the country. This has partly been initiated to foster unity, enhance cultural ideritityand harmony.

Historically, this date back in the year 1896 marked the first encounter and defeat of the British colonial forces by the Nupe Calvary at Ogidi in the present day Kogi State under the reign of one of our great forbearers, HRH Etsu Bubakar Abubakar) of blessed Memory. This feat immensely whittled down the initial British colonization aifronton the then Sokoto caliphate and what is today’s Northern states of Nigeria.

Objective

The 7TH Nupe Day Festival will
  1. Showcase traditional African Festival of Music, Dance and Arts
  2. Celebrate the individuality and unity of the Nupe people
  3. Celebrate the role of Nupe Day as the Unifier o Nupe people.
  4. Educate and inform the world of the rich, culture and history of Nupe People.
  5. Highlight Nupe land as safe and secure destination for tourism,
  6. Showcase Nupe land as a community steeped in culture, history and modernity
  7. Be the vehicle for active promotion of the tourist attractions in Nupe land.
The Assignment
In order to ensure the success of the 7th Nupe Day Festival, the Company will advise and work with the Nupe Day Festival Management Committee on:
  1. Management and technical documentation of the Festival
  2. Festival’s Objectives and Strategic Orientation
  3. Festival Spectacle and Target Spectators
  4. Mode and Style of the Presentation of the Festival
  5. Level of Quality and Diversity to Be Expected
  6. Framework of Management issues of the Festival
  7. Festival Management and lnter-Relationships
  8. The Role of Festival Stakeholders and Their Needs
  9. Dimensions of Festival Resource Utilization and Control
  10. The Financial Imperative and Budgetary Control System
  11. Security Environmental Protection and Public Safety at the Festival
  12. Marketing, Media and Sponsorship Requirements
Nupe Day Festivals are normally characterised with the following events:
  1. Lecture Series on topical issues concerning Nupe history Culture and Development.
  2. Nupe Foundation Merit Award to deserving individuals/Corporate bodies
  3. Face of Nupe depicting an individual who personifies Nupe race
  4. Agricultural show promoting Agric potentials of Nupe
  5. Nupe Turf showcasing the gallantry and sportsmanship of horse riders.
  6. Turbaning of deserving individuals with traditional titles by I-fRI-I
  7. Boat Regatta at Patigi/Laflagi
  8. Fishing Festivals
Submissions with the Expression of Interest
Interested companies are required to submit the following information:
  • Company profile with a copy of Certificate of incorporation, Memorandum and Articles of Association and Corporate Affairs commission Forms CAC-2 and CAC-7
  • Curriculum Vitae of key staff who will be assigned for the conduct of the required services including qualification, individual experience in handling assignments and attestation if available.
  • Capacity profile.
  • Evidence of experience in at least three (3) public events of similar nature and complexity executed within the last five (5) years with verifiable letter of contract award and evidence of satisfactory job completion.
