Cocoa is a strategic crop for farmers and the economies in West Africa; over 2 million rural families depend on it for their livelihoods. However, their productivity is low as a result of a number of factors including the non-application of good agricultural practices (GAP) for cocoa growing. The World Cocoa Foundation’s African Cocoa Initiative (WCF/ACI) plans to strengthen capacity of the extension staff of the Tree Crop Units/ADPs to deliver efficient extension services to cocoa farmers in Oyo and Kogi States.

WCF/ACI is inviting proposals containing detailed description of processes for the conduct of the training and associated budget as well as specific timelines for the conduct of this assignment the consultant with a demonstrated expertise is required to conduct training to extension staff in the following areas:
  1. Communication and facilitation/training skills
  2. Good Agricultural Practices
  3. Good Environmental Practices
  4. Good Social Practices
This is a 2-week residential training per batch of about 30 staff. A total of 60 extension staff will participate in the training.
