The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Plc (KEDCO) in conjunction with the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) hereby invites stakeholders from Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states to a one day consultation on the recent ATC & C baseline studies conducted by all the Discos nationwide and the subsequent revalidation exercise carried out by NERC.

Invitation for a Consultation with Industry Stakeholders on the ATC&C and Customer Number Enumeration

Today’s meeting will serve as a platform for NERC to present its findings of the results of the ATC&C and its impact on retail tariff. It will be recalled that the unreliable data from which aggregate losses were being calculated made it necessary for the Discos to conduct the baseline study.

As the regulatory body, NERC would be glad to receive your own input on electricity losses within KEDCO’s coverage areas - Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states and the potential impact on the tariff structure. The outcome of this process will be a more realistic and acceptable tariff structure. This will help all stakeholders as it will trigger a greater momentum in economic and productive activities within the areas under reference.

Sabotuers’ Plot Uncovered and Checkmated:

However despite all the commendable efforts of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission to ensure that such fundamental issues are addressed through a robust feedback mechanism such as this one, we have uncovered a sinister plot to throw spanners into the wheel by organizing demonstrations and protests at the venue of the event just to scuttle this lofty and commendable process.

Some individuals had hatched a plot to scuttle the entire event by hiring hoodlums (estimated at 150 strong) under the decoy name “CONCERNED CITIZENS” to cause confusion and disturb the fragile peace now prevailing within Kano.

Those shadowy characters have been behind a barrage of recent smear campaign in some sections of the press that was mounted against the Kano Electricity Distribution Company in order to malign and bring its management into disrepute.

This time around their plot was to use both the print and the electronic media to unleash a vicious press propaganda attack with the financial resources at their disposal.

As a responsible and patriotic corporate citizen, KEDCO, through its management has moved in proactively to tip the security organs thereby nipping a potential embarrassment in the bud. The security apparatchik is on top of the situation. Therefore members of the public especially business owners of all categories should feel free to attend this very important event that promises to affect their business future in a positive way.
