Grand Cereals Limited (GCL), a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria PLC, is an integrated foods company whose primary activity is the creation of superior value from local raw materials to produce and deliver superior quality brands in the animal feed, edible oils, breakfast cereals, pet food and other intermediate and consumer cereals products to Nigeria and West Africa markets.

Title: Request for Proposal for the Operation and Management of Staff Canteen Located at its Onitsha Canteen
Preamble
Grand Cereals Limited ("GCL"), a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc is running a competitive tender process to select and appoint a contractor for the operation and management of its Staff Canteen located at its Onitsha Factory, Plot 49A Harbour Industrial Layout, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Eligibility Criteria
- Executive Summary of your proposal.
- Company or business registration documents (Certificate of Incorporation/Registration, Memorandum and Articles of Association, CAC Form 7, CAC Form 2A).
- Valid License to function as a Food Handler and Caterer.
- All canteen personnel must be fully kitted with their hairs covered with hairnets or head cover(PPE).
- Provide an HSE policy if available.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional catering experience (factory experience will be an advantage).
- Valid VAT certificate.
- Minimum capital base of N3million to serve a minimum of 70 people daily.
- At least three (3) non-bidder owned customer references for whom the bidder has provided similar services during the past 3 years preceding the bid due date.
- The company should have a suitable external location for preparation of our staff meals.
- The company should have a suitable vehicle for conveying the meals to our staff canteen.
- Maintain the following valid insurances:
- Workmen Compensation policy – Statutory limits
- Group Life cover – Statutory limits
- Fidelity guarantee cover – N10,000,000 per occurrence
- Third Party Liability cover – N50,000,000 per occurrence
- Professional Indemnity Cover -N25,000,000 per occurrence
The proposal should be concise but include:
- Previous experiences in similar contracts.
- Demonstrated excellence in service.
- Contractor’s workers qualifications/eligibility and number of employees.
- Proposed cost of meals.
- Menu and meal options.
- Declaration that own business is not dismissed from participating in or provision of food handling/catering services within the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- Background information on the principal(s) or Key person(s) of your company who will be associated with the contract.
N/B: Proposals will be evaluated based on the response to the information requested above. All areas must be addressed for the proposal to be considered responsive.

- Respondents will assume full responsibility for its choice of method of submission of proposals. GCL assumes no responsibility for delays caused by any delivery service.
- Award notification: GCL intends to award this contract in November 2021 subject to review of the RFPs and internal approvals.
Terms and Conditions
- GCL reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, in whole or in part, to advertise for new proposals, and to cancel or amend this RFP at any time prior to the execution of a written contract. GCL reserves the right to waive any formalities in the RFP process.
- The award will be to the Respondent whose proposal complies with all the requirements set forth in this RFP, and whose proposal, in the sole opinion of GCL, is the best proposal taking into consideration all aspects of the response and documents submitted by the Respondent.
- By submitting a proposal, the respondent agrees that:
- The proposal is predicated upon the acceptance of all terms and conditions stated in the RFP. GCL reserves the right to accept or reject any exception taken by the respondent to the terms and conditions of this RFP.
- It will not bring any claim or have any cause of action against GCL based on any misunderstanding concerning the information provided herein or concerning GCL’s failure, neglect or otherwise, to provide the respondent with pertinent information as intended to this RFP.
- GCL will not be responsible for any costs of a proposed respondent or expenses relating to the preparation of response to this RFP.
- All responses and correspondence relating to this RFP submitted by the respondent will become the property of GCL when received.
Confidentiality
- The contents of this RFP are strictly private and confidential and may not be disclosed to any third party other than a participant’s employees for the purposes of preparing a response to the RFP, and on a need-to-know basis and on condition that such persons are informed of and agree to be bound by the confidentiality undertaking set out in this clause.
- Companies will be responsible for any breach by its employees of this obligation of confidence. No participant may make any public announcements concerning the RFP or their participation in this process without the prior written consent of GCL.
- The awarding of a contract does not permit the successful company to advertise its relationship with GCL without GCL’s prior authorization.
