The Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) invites qualified and reputable consultant(s) / individuals to indicate interest by submitting EOI documents for the following works:




The Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) project is a USAID-funded 5-year project (Oct 2020 - Oct 2025), implemented by Palladium in collaboration with Nigeria Resource Partners (RPs). The project is designed to enhance local civil society organizations’ ability to be positive and responsible change agents in Nigeria. The goal of the project is to “improve public accountability, transparency, and sustainable service delivery in Nigeria” by strengthening the managerial, financial, and advocacy capacity of civil society to engage citizens to influence the Government of Nigeria in key development reforms at national, state, and local levels.

SCALE will support Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) in Nigeria including USAID/Nigeria’s programmatic sectors with a basket of managerial, business strengthening, and advocacy capacity-building interventions aimed at advancing Nigerian CSO sustainability combined with targeted grants to advance mutually agreed upon priorities.

Title: Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) to Participate in Organizational Development and Advocacy Training

Preamble
SCALE with its partner, Kustos Management Support Services Limited is organizing a six-month training course for professional and potential Organizational Development (OD) and Advocacy consultants positioned to provide capacity support to civil society and business management organizations in Nigeria. Applications are now being invited from interested persons to be trained over a six month period using a combination of physical classroom, practical and virtual methods.

Responsibilities of the Trainees
Trainees should commit to the following:
  • Attend all in-person and virtual trainings (physical training will be a maximum of 3 weeks for the entire period while virtual trainings will be limited to maximum of 3 days per month, and 2 hours per contact)
  • Participate actively in all training activities including class assignments, group work and field work
  • Be punctual in joining sessions
  • As part of field work, identify and conduct organizational assessments for one civil society organization pro-bono.
  • Prepare and submit reports as may be required.
Conditions for Certification
To be awarded a certificate, the trainee must have:




  • Obtained aggregate pass mark of 65% and above in all class work and assessments
  • Conducted assessments for an organization and submitted the field report
  • Submitted a report on course experience
  • Conducted him/herself in an appropriate manner throughout the duration of the training.
Person Specification
Academic Qualifications:
  • A minimum of university first degree/HND. A Master's degree and other relevant professional certification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in providing capacity development support within the civil society sector and other related sectors.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to work efficiently and deliver on committed outputs within agreed timelines and deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capacity to organize and facilitate consultative meetings
  • High level written and oral communications skills in English.
  • Must be result-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm, tact and integrity
  • Skills in facilitation of stakeholder engagements/workshops
Management Support Services Limited:
  • Experience in providing capacity support to civil society organizations

Selection Criteria
The candidates will be evaluated through both desk review and virtual interview) based on the following criteria:
  • Educational background and work experience as reflected in their CV.
  • Strength of their Statement of Purpose.
  • Confirmed letter of recommendation.
  • Performance in short online screening assessment
