Expression of Interest (EOI) - Development of Workbooks for Grade 1-9 at the Restoration of Hope Initiative (ROHI)

The Restoration of Hope Initiative (ROHI) is a national non-governmental organization with more than five years of experience engaging with conflict-affected communities in North-Eastern Nigeria to address the issues affecting them. From 2015-2021 ROHI has supported over 150,000 vulnerable children to return to school through non-formal education and formal education activities in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.

Title: Expression of Interest (EOI) - Development of Workbooks for Grades 1-9

Schools across Nigeria closed on the 19th of March, 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19, forcing 36 million enrolled students out of school. They join an estimated 13.2 million primary school-aged children who were out of school before the pandemic hit (UBEC 2019 personnel audit data). While t expected reduction in global growth have far-reaching effects for all, their impact will be particularly detrimental to the most disadvantaged students and their families, especially in conflict-affected communities where insurgency and banditry have led to the closure of schools. The Federal Government and humanitarian organizations rolled out the Learn at Home Program (LHP) using devices such as televisions, the Internet and radios.

With a large number of out of school children and other in-school children in the Northeast of Nigeria who require access to education and improved learning outcomes respectively, simplified workbooks developed through an independent learning strategy in line with the national curriculum will be helpful to support children learn independently or in clusters.
