An indigenous faith-based non-government organization is recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Consultant

Location: Abuja (preferred)
Duration: 3 - 6 months
Start Period: December 2023

Project Background

  • We are being supported to implement a pilot project that will strengthen the intersection between climate change and public health.
  • We seek a Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Consultant for a 3-month period.
  • The specialist will be involved in planning and leading effective community entry, engagements and advocacy for a community-based project in the North West and North Central parts of Nigeria.

Basic Functions
The SBCC specialist will:

  • Determine and develop strategic communication that will drive and sustain the uptake of intervention in two separate communities.
  • S/he will provide technical assistance and supervisory support to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to roll out communication strategies adapted to the communities and in line with the project’s goals.
  • S/he will advise the project on strategic communication with national stakeholders to ensure buy-in and commitment towards the project.

Deliverables
His/her deliverables include:

  • A baseline assessment report
  • Activity reports showing the integration of assessment findings and highlighting the development and dissemination of effective communication methods
  • Supervision of activities of supported CBOs

Required

  • Demonstrable experience conducting behaviour change communication assessments.
  • Demonstrable expertise in developing and implementing apt behaviour change communication strategies.
  • Hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
  • Ability to travel
  • Fluency in Hausa - Highly desirable
  • Experience working in North West and North Central states of Nigeria –Desirable
  • Experience in dealing with issues of gender mainstreaming in material development and within public institutions - Desirable.
