Request for Proposal from Architectural, Engineering and Quantity Surveying Consulting Firms for the Development of Hotels in Selected Cities in Nigeria

1.0 Introduction
Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) is a publicly quoted conglomerate with a diversified shareholder base of over 3,000.000 investors. Our portfolio comprises of strategic investments in the hospitality, agribusiness and energy sectors. Some of our notable businesses include Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja; Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar; Teragro Commodities Limited, operator of Teragro Benfruit plant – Nigeria’s first-of-its-kind juice concentrate plant and Transcorp Energy Limited- Operator of Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 281. Transnational Hotels and Tourism Services Limited (THTSL) a subsidiary of Transcorp is developing three new hotels in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

The hotels will be managed by Hilton Worldwide and the design should be of international standards.

2.0 Scope of Service
In this regard Transnational Hotels and Tourism Services Limited (THTSL) intends to procure the services of Architectural firms, Civil and Structural Engineering Firms, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Firms, and Quantity Surveying Firms with relevant skills and experience as Consultants to plan, design and supervise the construction of the projects in the selected locations Qualified firms are invited to submit Request for Proposal (RFP) for any or all of the project sites listed above

3.0 Eligibility Criteria
a. Interested architectural firms must have undertaken at least one Hilton International upper class hotel worldwide

Civil and Structural engineering firms, Mechanical and electrical engineering firms and quantity surveyors must have undertaken at least one 5 star international grade hotel in Nigeria

b. Interested firms are to be registered with the appropriate Registration and Professional Bodies in Nigeria. Foreign firms can participate in collaboration with their Nigerian affiliates who meet the eligibility criteria.

c. All interested firms must submit the following documents as minimum requirements:

• Copy of Certificate of Incorporation / Registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
• Company’s profile including CVs of key staff and professionals.
• Evidence of possessing professional and technical qualifications to carry out the work.
• Verifiable documentary evidence of similar projects successfully executed. Such evidence shall be in the form of architectural drawings, letters of commission, pictures of past projects, etc
• Professional Indemnity Insurance stating the value limit of the cover.
• A summary paper including the following Overall experience in the construction industry, experience of working in difficult or African market, especially in Nigeria, experience on similar hotel project

4.0 Submission of Proposal
Interested firms are advised to comply fully with all requirements stated above Failure to provide essential information will lead to disqualification.

Upon receipt of EOI from interested Firms, THTSL shall evaluate and pre-qualify applicants. Thereafter, the prequalified Architect shall be issued with the Terms of Engagement and. Project Brief to prepare and submit the concept design for one of the project sites by the 15th December, 2012.

5.0 Closing Date for Submission of Proposals
Submission of proposals closes at 12 noon on the 5th December, 2012 [one week] from the date of publication of this advertisement.
